A CAMPAIGN FOR NOBILIS: A GAME OF GREATER POWERS

...
"But when you can see again, the devastation is transformed, and you stand at home, if not at peace, in the courtyard of the Citadel Xypnios, where grows a tree of black bark. Under the tree is a splashing natural spring of freshwater, stained only by the blood dripping into it from above.

"The source of this blood is your Master, the WildLord Sartael, Imperator of Cats, Music, Night, Dreams, Stealth, and Fear; a piece of whose soul is now painfully grafted to your own.

"Sartael hangs naked from the Weeping Tree, his left foot bound unseen to some thick bough above him, his right leg bent at a painful angle to the other. Perhaps it is broken; he trickles the blood of a God from a hundred small gashes and cuts, as well, but the most grievous wound is his left eye. There, the tip of an arrow as black as the darkest sky and edged with flecks of stars protrudes, collecting the rivulets of blood from your Lord's ruined eye before it drips...drips...drips down into the spring. Behind him, the shaft of this magnificent arro has broken. It can be seen behind his skull, but the fletching and more is lost, and against your will, you are filled with sorrow.

"The arrow, broken, is perhaps the most beautiful object you have ever seen, and how much more brilliant would it have been, complete.

"Sartael's one gleaming yellow eye fixes on both of yours, and he knows you to your-- and his-- soul."

    SARTAEL THE SLEEPING LORD
WILDLORD OF CATS, FEAR, MUSIC, NIGHT, DREAMS, AND STEALTH

    Advantages:
    +1 Mystery Cult
    +1 Clear-Sighted

While Sartael is not there for the guiding of his Family, and indeed depends on them to a degree greater than any Imperator would choose, he is nevertheless a wise Lord, and his last gift to his Nobles was a degree of this wisdom, to guide them where he cannot.

    Disadvantages:
    -1 Failing
    -1 Sleeping Lord

The grievous wounds suffered in the Spirit World have damaged Sartael, beyond his ability to recover unassisted. He depends on his Nobles to tend to him and, eventually, recover him from his wounds. This will be no easy task. In the mean time, however, he conserves his receding energies in a healing trance.
